Boys Town, NE

Boys Town was founded by Fr. Flanagan in 1917. Since it opened almost 100 years ago, Boys Town has been a home for boys and girls (beginning in the late 1970s) and providing them with the services they need. A unique thing about their programming is that they house the children in family homes versus in dormitories run by married couples. A school is onsite as well.

A movie was made about Boys Town in 1938 which helped to popularize the saying, “He ain’t heavy, he’s my brother.”
